Are Members of the House not Essential Workers?

All across the nation non essential workers have been told to stay home as they struggle with no pay and a broken benefits system. Small businesses close with the fear of never reopening putting their employed out of work permanently. But then we have the House.

The Senate is going back into session, but the House is not in a time when we need them most. Are members of the House not essential workers? If I'm an essential worker and choose to stay home and not do my job, I would not get paid, and would most likely be fired. My fears of infection are irrelevant, I would not be eligible for state unemployment or federal benefits, the government made sure of that. I would be left to fend for my self all alone and scorned for my selfish act..

But then we have the House. Making 6 digit figures paid with your tax dollars as many still waiting for benefits wait for hours on food pantry lines. Your bills are mounting, credit cards due and late fees still apply. But the House doesn't worry they still get a paid plus expenses as they preach to the masses stay home. Easy for them to say when they still get a paycheck while taxes are taken form your benefits to pay them.
