Space Force Turned Out to be a Good Idea

When Space Force was announced all the critics sprang into motion, condemning it based solely on the person who suggested it. "Where will we get the money?" a NY politician asked as she proposed laws that even her allies said they had no money to pay for. "Its a dumb idea." Said another even as top scientist and government advisor Neil deGrasse Tyso backed the idea
(“Just ’cause it came out of Trump’s mouth doesn’t require that it then be a crazy thing,”)

But as more scientist and pentagon officials agreed it was something we should have, the public resisted just for the sake of resisting. Critics lined up to bash the logo crying it was a rip off of their favorite show. Only to be silenced when it was revealed the logo was a modification of one that existed over 20 years before that show existed. Meanwhile the nay sayers in congress silently voted for it, speaking in small circles it was a good idea. But to satisfy their base they tried to change the name, pettiness at its best. Why do I bring this up you ask, am I trying to be partisan? No not at all I'm just pointing out how partisan politics causes people to be short sighted.

Now lets look at the public that rely heavily on partisan news, not thinking a president could know more than them. Private companies are now venturing into space where they can operate without supervision. They want to go to Moon and far beyond even test technologies to down satellites. Iran just launched its first military satellite while nations like China, North Korea and Russia, all adversaries of some sort are shooting for high orbit and beyond.

"We have NASA, a civilian agency." you might say, but its technology is sorely lagging. Limited by civilian laws in the risks it can take, its fallen way behind our international competitors.

"But the air force." you may counter, and those who know history will remind you many said the same thing when it was once part of the Army.

But now to the point of this story, as we've heard in recent news, the 'Artemis Accords' pact for moon mining is being drafted
(Reuters -Exclusive: Trump administration drafting 'Artemis Accords' pact for moon mining - sources ) space commerce is about to begin.

"The Artemis Accords, named after the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s new Artemis moon program, propose “safety zones” that would surround future moon bases to prevent damage or interference from rival countries or companies operating in close proximity."

Sounds like a job for the Space Force
